KL Getaway

Ahhhhhh… It’s great to have a short getaway. I really needed to get out of town after all that I’ve been through.

In order to avoid the Hari Raya jam at the checkpoint, we left home at an unearthly hour at 4am exactly and arrived in KL at 710am. Pretty fast drive I’d say…

In the darkness, we saw a man fully suited with LED Lights on himself and his motorbike. It was such a sight! Cars were lining up to snap a photograph of him.

You’ll never lose your way with him around.

Cars slowing down just to get snapshots of him.

It was my first seeing tunnels in Malaysia. I thought only small countries would have such stuff. Initially, i thought it was a express tunnel for card holders who pay toll fee using ‘Touch n Go’ cards. Apparently, it’s a flood tunnel.

Thankfully, the occupancy rate at the hotel wasn’t full, hence we were allowed an early check-in for our hungry tummies! Continental Breakfast cost 55RM+. Food was OKAY. Well, passable for a picky eater like me. The beef bacon was cooked till it was hard as hell, the waffles were crunchy hard, the sautéed mushrooms weren’t at all sautéed and the fruits and salad had too little variety. The only attractive food was the chocolate fondue that caught interest of many others. However, I would have preferred fruits rather than candy for the fondue.

Me and my pickness with food.

After our Morning nap, we walked over to KLCC, which was a 15 minute walk from our hotel. It’s a five Star Hotel called ‘The Renaissance’ with a big ‘R’ logo not to be missed!

KLCC – Night View

Don’t you love the view of the KLCC? Looks lovely huh? Too bad we weren’t able to go up there to eat at the restaurant. KL Tower/ something was also a recommended place to go to, to catch the sunset. I could also see it from the hotel.

KL Tower?

Do correct me if I’m wrong. I can be pretty lost and forgetful at names after holidays. Hehehe.

Shopping on that Saturday was kinda quiet with most Muslims at home doing preparations for Raya the next day… We shopped for hours, that we only ate 2 meals each day. Mum says we saved money. But in my opinion, we didn’t. In fact, we probably spent the most on food. We had Mexican food, Chinese Zhi Char, Western and oh, Korean food! Mmmmm~~

Nachos with cheese and filling

The yummiest salad ever! Smoked Salmon with fetta cheese, chickpeas and vegetables

Korean Food!

I must say, shopping in Malaysia during festive seasons has it’s perks and un-perks. One thing I enjoyed going there was to relax and think of nothing. Well, not really. Half my time I was worrying about work and thinking of the kids. Gah.

The trip to Malaysia was basically a shopping trip for my brother who would be starting work soon. I was kinda sad when mum told me on the second day that I had shopped enough. I was frustrated and angry… but then let it go. So instead of shopping with them, I played with the iPad. Because window shopping can really suck. Then I chanced upon the most coziest toilet ever. There was a reading/ resting area after entering the women’s toilet. WOW.

I can sit here all day with my iPad as companion

I didn’t dare sit down the first time I was in there, worried that I wouldn’t get up, and mum would probably be wondering where I was. Only the second time I was in there with my mum that I dared sit. It was so comfortable…

KLCC was packed with people outside enjoying the fountain. I daren’t go down there. I’d rather stay where I was, enjoying the view..

Fountain

Look at the amount of people crowding the entrance!

Nice view from Godiva.

And here’s a view from the Hotel room at the Twelfth floor.

Mini Houses around the Hotel

We’d always wake up at mid day. Love the Silhouette of the building.

It’s afternoon!

The torturous part was going home. Love it when the car goes fast. Hate Jams.

The start of the jam

The trip home took pretty long… We left at 9am, and only arrived in Singapore around 2ish. Slept at 3am and woke the same day to get to work. And I still had a truckload of energy that morning. AMAZING.

Well, that’s all folks!
